I know this is switched off in b7, because of the problems in b3.

Is normalising likely to make a return, as I find the differing levels of mp3, especially the ones from the web a real pain.

Alternatively does anyone know an easy way to normalise lots of mp3's given that I can use the download feature in b7, to get files from the Empeg in a reasonable order ?

Thanks

Have you tried VolAdj? I know it's not Normalisation but it may give you the effect you are looking for.

I'm a non-hacked Empeg beginner ... what does VolAdj do ?, is it easy to install ?

Install Lord's Kernal, VolAdj is in there.
Have a look at http://rtr.ca/empeg/

The easiest way to get VolAdj onto your player is to download and install Mark Lord's kernel hack. This is dead simple to do too. Here's the page you want.

While you to fight it out.

Would this be right ?

Pre-built kernel for all Mk2/Mk2a players v98.hijack.v200b7.mk2.zImage 488280 bytes Jan 3 18:13

Then use Tony's Logo Editor, Kernal Flash thingy pointed at that downloaded file, with the COM cable plugged in.

Then once loaded, Reboot the player and Press and Hold the volume knob to get to the menu.

Is this all correct.

Also, how do I get to the config.ini ? to adjust the settings and will I need to ?

Thanks

Yup that's correct and you don't need to fiddle with config.ini. Just make sure you've upgraded to the latest beta before you install Mark's kernel.

Yes, that is correct.

Make sure to read the FAQ Entries on volume differences so you understand what's going on.

Also, how do I get to the config.ini ? to adjust the settings and will I need to ?

Again, this is a FAQ Entry.

While you're at it, why not give the whole FAQ a quick skim?

>... Press and Hold the volume knob to get to the menu.

Press and hold also works for the MENU button on the Rio Remote.

Other buttons do other things. I need a volunteer to write up a user-manual, basically just a collection of Hijack features and how to activate them. Most are pretty obvious, but one or two may seem more obscure.. eg. '4' on the remote activates the countdown timer (latest Hijack versions only).
