getting 'hijack config error' since v239

getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 14/03/2002 22:02

The 'hijack config error' is coming up at bootup w/v239 on, when downgraded to v236 no error. The player seems to be OK otherwise, it's sitting here playing w/no problems.

If you have any of the random dancing stuff in your config, you need to remove it or you will get the config error.

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 16/03/2002 16:31

Well, hook up the serial port to some software, and watch for the error message indicating exactly which line is causing trouble..

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 16/03/2002 18:36

Well sorry for the trouble but now it's working, no hijack config error coming up. I'm so lost now, I don't know what I did or what happened, not enough sleep I guess.

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 20/03/2002 23:47

I haven't been able to check the forums for a few weeks, so I finally autoHijacked today from v2.35 to v2.46. Now I'm getting a "hijack config error", though I never made any changes to the config.ini between those versions:

For each change detailed below, I used the Emplode (not jEmplode) config.ini editor, synchronized, then opened the Hijack menu and used the reboot function...

The first thing I did was check every hijack-related line to look for stray characters. Then I removed the "time_offset=-480" line, which didn't get rid of the problem. Then I got rid of the first three "dance=" lines, thinking maybe the comments were somehow screwing things up. No luck. Finally, I got rid of all the "dance=" lines, and the config error message disappeared. After I had satisfied myself that the error message wasn't going to return by rebooting multiple times, I added the "dance=" lines back in manually. The "hijack config error" message came back!

Has the syntax for hijack's flancedoor settings changed somehow?

Yes, the flancedoor lines are no longer supported by Hijack and must be removed. There have been a few other posts on this subject elsewhere in the BBS.

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 20/03/2002 23:58

I suddenly remembered that I had set up the serial cable in a convenient location, so I decided to load up hyperterminal and check things. Here's the last section that hyperterminal displays:

[hijack] ERROR: : "dance=breakdance.raw; one of the "original" dances"
[hijack] ERROR: : "dance=princedance.raw; one of the "original" dances"
[hijack] ERROR: : "dance=stonkdance.raw; one of the "original" dances"

hijack_tone_init completed.

Seems pretty conclusive. What I don't understand is why the original poster got the error, even though he has no flancedoor lines.

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 21/03/2002 00:07

Oops...from now on I'll check the Hijack FAQ Changelog whenever I use autoHijack to jump through multiple Hijack versions in one step, hehe. Sorry for all that ascii above.

Cool, That's exactly why i started keeping a changelog. Hope it comes in handy. =]

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 21/03/2002 16:36

I found out what was wrong, it's in my config. post, the last line has a period in it. I didn't put it there as puncuation of the post. All is well my guess is when I took out the dance lines it was a stray I didn't see.

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 22/03/2002 17:20

I couldn't find anywhere that explained why "dance=" is no longer supported???

Re: getting 'hijack config error' since v239 - 22/03/2002 17:21

No explanation has been given.

I happen to know why, but if I told you, I'd have to kill you.

what I can infer from Mark's post, I think something similar is going to be built into the next version...
but just my own guess...I have no privilaged info and have not received any secret info...
