About to Hijack. Have a question about Stalk debug - 19/08/2002 12:00

I will be Hijacking for the first time either today or tomorrow. I have decided to finally get my steering wheel controls working. I have a quick question about this hijack command:

stalk_debug=1 defined as Enables the dump out of all intercepted/generated Sony stalk packets. in the Hijack FAQ.

My question is where or what does it get dumped to?

It should appear on the console which is the serial port in this case. Haven't tried it since I don't have stalk though.

I sure hope not.

Sweet. I'm about to install it for the first time some time this week, whenever my Pioneer remote comes in from Crutchfield

The serial port is the only place for it to be dumped to. Nothing else is writable at run time.

It could be dumped to the display (what I was hoping for).

Ahh. Good point. Maybe it is. I doubt it, though.

Edit: They might show up in Hijack's Button Codes Display menu item, though.

I can confirm:

Stalk commands *do* show up in the Hijack button commands display.

But it is the intepreted (by the Hijack Kernel) value of the Stalk button code, not the raw hex byte value sent by the stalk.

So, if your Stalk is out of whack (2 digit hex value wise) then the stalk codes generated by the kernel may not show up correctly (, or at all in some cases) and then the only way to know whats being sent down the wire by the Stalk is to attach a serial device to the Empeg serial port and see the stalk debug info when stalk_debug=1 is set in config.ini
