Indiana / Cincinnati Meet

Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/05/2005 09:16

Are people still interested in attending the meet this year?

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/05/2005 21:41

I would go, but would understand if you don't want to do it this year.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/05/2005 21:58

I've never managed to make it to any of the annual meets but I'm still very impressed by how much organisation & work RobS and Laura have put into them.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/05/2005 22:42

I'm willing to have it still if people want to come, I just wasn't sure if the interest was still there or not. I always have a good time and think it will be even more fun having it at my own house this year.

Warning though: if you're allergic to cats bring plenty of medication I have more than I should.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/05/2005 22:48

Rob puts in a lot more work on his than I do. Mine tend to be rather small gatherings where his have multitudes of people from all over the world. Someday I would like to cross the pond but doubt I will ever be able to afford to.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/05/2005 23:08

I would love to come. That would make it my first solo road trip. Late September? It's been on my books for a long time.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/05/2005 11:27

I'm interested if it doesn't fall on my wife's birthday again this year.
Posted by: Daria

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/05/2005 14:27

When is your wife's birthday?

I'd like to be in the opposite corner of Ohio (near Cleveland) the 23rd/24th of September, so if that's when your wife's birthday is, all the better.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/05/2005 14:39

September 25th

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/05/2005 16:36

Woo. So 2 votes for not that weekend.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/05/2005 19:51

Hiw does the weekend before that sound then? The 17th and 18th.
Posted by: Daria

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 24/05/2005 02:35

As far as I know it's good. With my luck I'll end up coming in directly from New York.
Posted by: JBjorgen

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 24/05/2005 11:28

Looks good schedule-wise.

I hope we didn't scare Ian off with all the work last year.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 24/05/2005 18:31

All of the car trouble he had last year may have done it.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 11/07/2005 20:59

We can't top off Rob's canon but by god we're going to try. Saturday night we will have a bonfire and annual cookout and set off fireworks, they're legal here We'll go fireworks shopping early Saturday and people can buy what they want then set them off later.

Hey...I'm tempted still. Laura, how far are you from Sandusky?
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 12/07/2005 08:31

About 4 1/2 hours or so. I hope you can make it.
Posted by: Daria

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 12/07/2005 11:55

Really? I would have thought it less.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 12/07/2005 23:02

Maybe it is less if you drive it Indiana speed limit is now 70 on I-74, at least around here.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 16/07/2005 10:36

I'm taking that whole week off for vacation so if anyone wants to come early and help haul top soil and gravel and seed a lawn and seal a deck and outdoor furniture they are more than welcome to come and help

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/07/2005 21:41

Also if anyone has a quad that they want to bring, my neighbor has 27 acres that we can ride on (I don't have one, yet).

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 20/07/2005 22:45

Can I try to kick up dirt and pop some wheelies in my station wagon? I've heard 2nd gear squeal sounds exceptional on 5 foot tall field hay.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 21/07/2005 00:35

I think that might do a bit more damage to the ground than a quad would My field is only about 4' and I plan on making it into a wild flower field next year so I don't want it torn up. But people do drive trucks all over the fields out here, so maybe you could.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 21/07/2005 10:03

I would imagine Haspin Acres (a 750 acre off road park) is pretty close to you. If anyone else has a 4 wheeler and wants to go to Haspin I'm in. Last time I went it was $7.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 21/07/2005 10:53

Wow, $16 dollars now. Guess its been awhile.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 21/07/2005 23:16

Very close to me, within 30 minutes at the most, and I've never heard of it. Course I'm new out here and have nothing to ride around the place on

But my neighbors would be free and right next door!

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/08/2005 13:01

Now that the meet is getting closer, who still plans on coming and who will be staying at my house?
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/08/2005 15:07

Itinerary will be as follows:

Friday night we will drive into Batesville for La Rosa's pizza (if people get here early enough) followed by a bonfire in my backyard.

Saturday morning we will have a lite breakfast followed by stereo competitions. There will be no prizes this year but we can still judge if people want or just show them off.

Saturday afternoon it will be lunch at Wagners in Oldenburg, famous for their pan fried chicken dinners served family style which means all you can eat for $10 each. After lunch we will fly down the road to buy fireworks. Then we can come back here and swim in my neighbors pond if it's warm enough.

Saturday night we will have a cookout and bonfire and fireworks and drink of course.

Sunday morning we can go into Lawrenceburg and have a breakfast buffet at the Argosy Casino, I was told it's really good but I'm not sure how much it costs. People can either stay and gamble or we could go off and do something else. Those who are staying later for the day we can lunch at The River Watch which is a barge near the casino, they have good food.

Could someone bring a coffee maker? I don't have one since I'm a tea drinker And people can buy their own beer and drinks. I have a small fridge so we might need coolers also.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/08/2005 15:11

I'll be coming, but not staying in your cat sanctuary of a house.

I can bring a coffee maker. If Mark is coming, I'll be sure to bring some wine too.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 23/08/2005 19:28

I may not be there. I may have due to changed employment situation become unavailable Friday and due to changed life situation become unavailable Saturday. We'll see.

Oh no

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 24/08/2005 22:51

It's been a long time since I've checked out this forum, but my empeg is still doing great.

I have moved to the Dayton area, and wouldn't mind checking out a few other empegs. I have only seen one other one in someone's car. But I will probably only be able to come Saturday afternoon until Sunday. I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity on Saturday mornings.
Posted by: robricc

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 25/08/2005 00:17

You should definitely come!
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 25/08/2005 15:25

I work in Dayton, what part are you from? It takes me about 1 1/2 hours to get there. If you come in the afternoon, I can give you my cell # so we can figure out where to meet up.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 25/08/2005 16:28

Not looking promising for me this year. Hopefully, I'll see you guys next year.
Posted by: FireFox31

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 25/08/2005 22:17

I still plan to come, but don't know where I'll be staying. Did we settle on a date? 9/16/05 - 9/18/05? Hm, that's sooner than I thought...
Posted by: robricc

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 25/08/2005 22:37

If you can handle the cats, Laura is letting people stay at her place.

Yeah, it's the weekend of the 16th.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 30/08/2005 11:24

There is a slight chance that Katrina may postpone the meet this year. Our company has 104 stores that they have lost communication with in the affected area. The company has asked for 2 to 3 techs in each service area to volunteer to go south to help with the clean up and what else needs done. I have volunteered, but many others have also. I have also volunteered to postpone my vacation to help cover people being sent down if needed. I will know more by the end of the week and will let everyone know.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 02/09/2005 23:04

The meet is still on for those of you who are coming, I don't have to change my vacation days.
Posted by: genixia

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 03/09/2005 18:37

Ugh. I can't make it. Big work deadline that will have me working crazy hours up to and probably including that weekend.

I was looking forward to not soldering this year too.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 03/09/2005 18:40

Maybe next year then. Doesn't seem like it will be very many this year but I'll still have it.
Posted by: JBjorgen

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 04/09/2005 18:37

Well, it's a definite no for me now. I'm using my vacation time to go down to Mississippi to take fuel and supplies to the people in need. Hopefully I'll make it next year.
Posted by: Daria

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 04/09/2005 20:26

If I make it, I will be late. I must be in New York Friday. It's conceivable I will need to be in Cincinnati (in the city) Saturday night, which would suck, but life is hard. Too many threads all playing out.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 05/09/2005 23:59

I'm sorry that I also have to back out, after having planned to attend for the past 10 months. Work gave me projects on short notice and the spiked gas prices don't leave me enough time or money to attend. I'm really sorry to be backing out on such short notice.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 06/09/2005 00:26

I think it's down to just Rob and Caps, anyone else coming?
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 08/09/2005 13:36

The meet is being canceled this year since not enough people can attend. Maybe next year things will work out better

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 08/09/2005 14:14

Keep an eye out on the For Sale forum for (extremely) limited and collectable Cincinnati Meet 2005 t-shirts. Wow all your friends by wearing a shirt for an event that never happened!

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 08/09/2005 14:27

Well if anyone wants to shoot for October, I can have it the 14 - 16 or 29 - 31. I'm off call those weekends. Anyone interested then?
Posted by: Daria

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 08/09/2005 15:44

The 14-16 might work, I will hopefully know more by Monday
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 08/09/2005 15:51

Ok, let me know. If enough can make it the meet will go on....
Posted by: FireFox31

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 08/09/2005 23:32

Hm, those dates are looking better. I have a potential wedding to attend sometime in October, but I think it's the first weekend. This might work out after all.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 09/09/2005 02:13

Rob, if we hold it another date you can have a black X put through the original date and the new date put on them

Would you be able to come next month?
Posted by: robricc

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 09/09/2005 11:15

I'll see what I can do with the shirts. I can probably do anytime next month.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 11/09/2005 20:42

I think I am going to be at the OSU/ Mich St. football game that weekend.
Posted by: Daria

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 11/09/2005 20:52

Well if I do come out the 14th I'll be headed to Columbus on the 15th at least for the evening for a concert and possibly earlier in the day.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 11/09/2005 20:56

Then what about September 30 - October 2 or October 28 - 30? Is that any better for everyone?
Posted by: FireFox31

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 12/09/2005 00:42

10/1/05 is apparently the weekend that I'm booked, but I have to tripple check that. Regardless, late October (28th) should be good.
Posted by: Caps

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 13/09/2005 22:21

My parents are visiting the weekend of Oct.15, and we are going to the football game. That's why I can't make it that weekend. Any other weekend would work out great .
Posted by: Redrum

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 14/09/2005 11:01

I'll probably stop by. Can't stay the whole time no matter what weekend.

Hopefully someone will have V3 running. I'd love to see it and also the auto. eq. thing in action. I'm currently not brave enough to load V3 on my one and only player.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 14/09/2005 17:40

That sounds good. How about the last weekend in October then? Can everyone agree to that and make it? Might be past peak fall colors but still pretty and a bonfire in the evenings will feel pretty good.
Posted by: Laura

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 14/09/2005 17:43

Oh, is anyone into paintball or have the supplies for it? We've got about 29 acres to play on, including my neighbors land, and it will be before deer hunting season so we'll be safe and not have to dodge real bullets

Heh, I'm in Columbus on Oct 21-24.

Won't be free to go to a meet, though. OVFF is gonna eat my brain the whole time. And I won't be able to lay over for the following week.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 14/09/2005 22:19

Have some Sky-line chili or Gold Star Chili to get the true Cincinnati experience. Even in Columbus (yuck).

Get a 5-way, or at least a 3-way.

Cleveland was Ohio’s joke now its Columbus (opinions and mileage may vary).

I enjoyed the four years I spent at OSU. Being from California, the midwest gave me a little culture shock- not all bad in fact.
I still call it 'Cow-lumbus', though... and 'Hang On Sloopy' will never be the same for me.

Dunno. But my brain always inserts the 'O-H-I-O' at the proper point in the chorus.
Buckeye football is an awesome sight. Sorry, Tony, I don't see any interesting events in Columbus for that weekend.

If you have any time free those days let me know. Dayton, where I work, is only an hour from there. Maybe we could get together with some other empegers for lunch or dinner.

I'd be up for lunch/dinner in Cornlumbus (I live in Reynoldsburg, an eastern suburb). I could not make the meet due to previously booked travel, but late October is more open for me.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 11/10/2005 23:19

Time to bump this to the top again. So how many are going to make it October 28 - 30? I want to know if the meet is on before I dig the fire pit and buy wood.

Re: Indiana / Cincinnati Meet - 21/10/2005 23:36

I could have made it this weekend, but I will be in Arizona for two months starting on Oct.29.

It just seems so hard to plan anything with everyone so busy, doesn't it. I'll be up to meeting sometime next year if I'm not traveling.
