Casio CW-50 CD printer tips wanted - 06/02/2004 17:06

Hi All,

So those that have the Casio CW-50... Can you share some stuff you've learned from using this printer? What font looks best? Do you import text from somewhere?

Other tips?

If you get paid for this particular Fresh Gear segment, anyone who replies should get a kickback.

I've actually found that messier text looks better than clean text, though any truetype font looks pretty good. It's two-color, but it still looks nice. I've found that anything you do in-program ends up looking very good, even at small font sizes, like when you do track listings on audio CDs.

Here's some examples of what I thought turned out the best on mine:

Think only jpg files work.

BMP's aren't valid web images. If you have Windows XP, Paint can save them as JPG or PNG.

Wow. Those are nice. Did you make those yourself?

This isn't a review for Tech TV, it's a gadget I actually bought on my own! :-)

I knew they weren't, but I didn't think they wouldn't be allowed at all. I just have them in that format because the CW-50 likes bitmaps for some reason.

I'll see what I can do...

Yup, I made them. Thanks! It's simply a matter of doing a Google image search for the show and finding a suitable image that might translate nicely to two colors. Then all I do is load them into PSP, decrease color depth, and do some minor editing to correct any problems.

They look even nicer on the glossy finish that my Ritek media has. I love it.
