Ixus 400 dead. Replace it? - 08/08/2007 13:03
We went to a wedding on Monday. My camera (a Canon Ixus 400) kept telling me "Memory card error". Tried a couple of different cards, tried a couple of different batteries. Same error. Tried formatting the cards. It showed 3.4Mb capacity, despite the cards being 256Mb and 512Mb. Gave error "E500", if I recall correctly.
Probably need new camera.
Recommendations?

If you want to have a go at fixing the camera then this thread looks interesting:
http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/view_topic.php?id=38477&forum_id=15It could be either a bent pin, or needs the internal battery removed - there is also something about Canon USA fixing camera for free, even those out of warranty, not sure about UK though.

Try bringing this with you to the PLASA show tomorrow and handing it to Patrick - he has fixed a number of 400's with this exact problem recently.
