VMWare ESX virtual disk file - 11/06/2009 07:42
A quick ESX question. If you have an ESX server, can you extract the virtual disk images from it if you suddenly need to run a copy of one of the virtual machines under one of the non ESX VMWare products ?

The free version of Converter will do V2V conversions.

Yes. It is just a file inside the datastore. Log into the ESX shell and just transfer it out.

A file, yes, but a very likely a very big file.

And exporting works a lot more cleanly anyway.
