Reminds me of the great Empeg meets in Amersfoort w/ potato cannon, Patrick's amazing RC gadgets & gas turbine and all that good stuff...

Folks still boggle when I tell them that he successfully made it through customs with the cannon and the jet engine :-)

They boggle more when I tell them I turned down a weekend with three of the girls from my team to visit the red light district - but hey, they may have seen odd things done with bananas but have never toasted marshmallows using a jet turbine!

I visited Amsterdam's infamous red light district after the 2005 empeg meet.

Shocking, positively shocking I tell you. Why, one of the "ladies" was dressed so provocatively and revealingly that I could actually tell she was wearing red underwear beneath her negligee. Apparently none of the others was brave enough to try and outdo that.

A waste of time, really...

I've removed the sub-thread concerning Rob S to a private forum. I know he appreciates the sentiment and is touched that people are concerned about him, but I'm not sure it's beneficial for the posts to remain public.

He's pretty low at the moment but has friends looking out for him. I'm sure he's looking forward to organising this empeg meet!

Glad to hear his friends are there for him.

Now to find a way to make it to the meet this year, his previous efforts for the event have all been excellent, and definitely worth a repeat visit.
