Amazon mp3s through the iPhone music app - 27/08/2013 10:27

I'd like to download an album that I purchased on Amazon directly to my iPhone and then play it through the music app. Unfortunately, after it downloads, it only shows up in Amazon Cloud Player as on the "Device", but fails to show up in the Music app.

Any solution to this without having to download to iTunes and then sync with the phone? Perhaps some app that will transfer it?

There is no direct way on the device to do this. (Unless it's jailbroken). The media library sits in a sandbox, and no app has permission to write to that sandbox, only read from it.

There are 3rd party apps beyond iTunes that can sync to the iPhone. I don't have personal experience with any of them though.

Or an alternative is the iTunes Match service. Any file in iTunes on the PC is then also available on the iPhone without direct syncing.

Hmm. That stinks. Thanks for the info though.

I think CopyTrans Manager will do what you want.

Sorry, Doug, I was unclear...I wanted to do it without tethering it to a computer. I meant a app on the phone, but it's in a part of system that apps can't write to, so there goes that idea.

I suppose I can just use Amazon Cloud Player as the music player, but I don't like it that much. Of course the built-in one isn't much better.
