No e-mail version of bbs? - 01/11/2001 04:56
Hi!
Finally have some time to play around with my Receiver - what a battle it was to get one from the US.
Anyway, I was a bit surprised to see that there doesn't seem to be any "get new postings by e-mail" feature on this BBS (unlike the empeg one). I would really prefer to get the postings directly into my mailbox instead of having to remember to go and check the BBS.
Regards,
Julf (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)

The empeg BBS was recently upgraded to a new software version. If the empeg BBS has a feature that this BBS does not, perhaps it's because it's only available in the new version.
If you can verify that this is really the case, e-mail Paul about it and ask him nicely if he would please upgrade the Rio BBS as well.

It's a 3rd party thing. Someone (forgot who) has a script that
once or twice aday sends all new postings as mail to subscribers. Each category has it's own mailing list so you
can select what to get by mail.

Well, replying to myself... There is now a mailing thing on the empeg BBS itself, after the
software upgrade... previously (still exists) there was a third party, one way, mailing list
for each forum that resent posts (except, IIRC, from a few posters that didn't agree
to have their postings mailed out)

Any chance of enabling it on this forum as well?

No idea - as to the BBS native mail thing, could be a licensing/cost issue.
As to the third party mailing, you'd have to ask the sender.
