Restore DC/car visuals

Restore DC/car visuals - 15/09/2002 10:42

I would like to restore the DC/car visuals off my RioCar but I can't make it work....
Every time I put the player in the car I get a text screen :-(

My software version is 2.0b13
Hijack kernel 293
I've checked for the "AC power sensor switch problem" and the player is not forced in AC/DC mode.

Anybody knows what's going on?
tnx, Robert

``Why do the visuals disappear every time I put it in the car?'' and ``I can't get the Restore Visuals feature to work!'' from the FAQ.

Yes, very nice FAQ entry's.
I've read them at least 10 times the last 3 hours :-)

I guess that means that you have done what they've told you to do, then, huh?

It is possible that those FAQ entries are in error, since they are depending on a new feature added only in the latest Hijack. I was looking for feedback on this.

Please try adding

[serial]
car_rate=115200

to your config.ini and see if that fixes it.

Also, did you specifically select one text mode and one visual mode from the main menu "info" section before trying it out?

Yes
Been there, done that, didn't work :-(

Okay, try

[hijack]
suppress_notify=1
[output]
notify=1

in addition to the car_rate entry and see if that fixes it.

Oh, and... stupid question.. you have actually ENABLED the feature through the hijack menu right?

I've added the [serial] line but that didn't change anything.

And yes I've followed the faq entry's from the beginning to the end every time...

The restore feature is enabled through the hijack menu :-)

Stupid question from my side but does it make any difference where to put those line's?
I've put my complete config.ini only at http://www.7hills.nl/config.txt for easy viewing....

Re: Restore DC/car visuals - 15/09/2002 13:18

Your config.ini looks correct to me.

Unless, for some reason, there's a bug in Hijack preventing it from working because of the FTP password, I don't see why it wouldn't be working.

Oh wait. Maybe it's this?

[kenwood]
disabled=1

Try removing that, see if that fixes it.

Re: Restore DC/car visuals - 15/09/2002 13:19

I thought those last few lined didn't make it work and that's why you were posting yet again with the copy of config.ini.

Never mind about the kenwood line, then.

I'd be curious to know WHICH of those three lines solved the problem.

Re: Restore DC/car visuals - 15/09/2002 14:14

I've found through trail and error that "suppress_notify=1" does nothing for this problem.
But these line's make "restore DC/Car visuals" work again:

[output]
notify=1
[serial]
car_rate=115200

(My reply's are a bit out off sync because I've read both your answers and replyed to the wrong one....
I'm strugling a bit with the fact that the original posting isn't showing when I reply)

That's odd. What browser are you using? The original post should be at the bottom of the page when you hit Reply. You should be able to scroll down and copy/paste text from it if you want.
