jEmplode 42 - 12/10/2002 21:12

42 is going up. If you've been using the pre42's, there's really not much changed from 42pre5. I haven't had much time recently, but I have a pretty good list of new features that people have been asking for, so I'll try to start in on some of them. There are a couple of misc things I'd like to fix up in 42 and then I'll make that the next official jEmplode release.

I think Empeg<=>PC sync is the next major feature that I'll be working on for post-official-release ... I have to keep forging ahead since Roger is getting antsy and that makes me nervous

I'm back on a lame 56k modem, so uploading will take a while yet ... Give it about 20 mins or so.

Is there a bug with the 'Drive' column view or am I being stupid?

I have a 2 drive player and was curious to see what files were residing on the 2nd drive. I enabled the 'Drive' column under the 'View' menu and no matter what files I list, the drive column always reports '0'.
I have performed searches that return ~3000 files and at no time have I seen anything listed other than Drive 0.

i'll take a look ... i need to see if Emplode displays that value .. I seem to recall one of the Empeg guys saying that value isn't actually set... I could be insane though.

There is not a bug, other than the fact that the column should not be there at all. Click here to see why.

More importantly, Tony, a particular track can be on both drives at once -- the space calculations are done independently for the *0 file and the *1 file.

little bug... i usually edit my id3v2 tags w/ tag&rename, and i do minor changes as i go w/ winamp. when i import a file using jemp that i've edited in winamp, the genre field starts w/ a number, i.e. (13)Trance or something like it.

Re: jEmplode 42 - 16/10/2002 20:29

I upgraded but JEmplode isn't finding the Hijack updates anymore, instead it reports I need Hijack & Ethernet to do it. However the Empeg was connected via Ethernet.

Re: jEmplode 42 - 17/10/2002 05:01

so you have an old version of Hijack on there, right? after you connect to the Empeg w/ jEmplode (selecting Ethernet from the connection list) can you Tools...Update Hijack?

Re: jEmplode 42 - 17/10/2002 23:37

Hm. With jemplode 42, I'm using {artist} - {source} - {pos:2} - {title}.mp3 as my filename format, but the position field doesn't get populated... What's up with that? I know that this used to work fine.

Also, the genre field isn't being populated...

I'd really like to start backing up my entire empeg to re-upload to my soon to be upgraded model. I'd like to get the these fixed before I begin.

Are these existing issues with jemplode or am I doing somethin' wrong (forgetting a setting somewhere)?

Old version of Hijack YES
When I try the Update Hijack/JEmplode it says the JEmplode is up to date then says I have to be connected via Ethernet and have Hijack installed. I have both Ethernet and Hijack as did I before version 42 and I had no problems with 41 I'm not new to JEmplode.
I notice that v41 would say it's checking for Hijack version but v42 doesn't do it at all just goes to the player database.

I just started using jemplode 42 and noticed a little error :-

Do we really need 15 digits after the decimal point?

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 02:13

As you can see, that's just an estimate. Perhaps, 20 digits would make it a little more accurate.

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 03:14

The free space is estimated. The drive capacity isn't

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 03:45

hehe, maybe the capacity is an irrational number, eg. infinitely long. Would that mean you would have infinite drive space?

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 08:29

Trying to go back to the old version (41) isn't working anymore either, the program header still says it's v42 even though I pasted over the .jar file with another and rebooted.
Any help at all to get back the Hijack updateing feature? Near as I can tell this is the only problem there is with it.

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 09:58

ISTR that there were some troubles with new versions of jEmplode using old config files. Try moving your config file out of the way and see if that solves your problem. It may not at all; this is just a guess. I also can't tell you where that config file is, as I'm not in front of a jEmplode-d computer right now.

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 18:27

OK I decided to try using JEmplode with my Mk2 instead of the Mk2aRio branded player. Here's what's happening I have no trouble with the Mk2 updateing via ethernet but the Mk2a Rio will connect via ethernet w/JEmplode v39 (back tracked) but JEmplode stills says I needed to be connected by Ethernet and have Hijack installed to update even though all requirements are met. The only difference in the 2 players setups was different Hijack versions but I used LogoEdit to even that up, both are now v300, but JEmplode still refuses to acknowledge the Mk2a's Ethernet connection. I can, however connect (using only Ethernet) and see the playlists w/no problem just can't update Hijack. JEmplode will say my JEmplode version is out of date.
Anyone have a suggestion?

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 19:24

I decided to start all over fresh with player software (now latest) added latest Hijack (v300) and latest JEmplode (v42) and no luck with JEmplode and the Mk2a/Rio branded any reason why the Rio wouldn't update Hijack and the Mk2/Empeg branded player would?

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 19:29

Have you changed/checked your IP settings in config.ini?
Posted by: jwickis

Re: jEmplode 42 - 19/10/2002 19:42

Answer is YES the settings are right
The thing is it's connecting by Ethernet and I can see the playlists but trying to get it to update Hijack it says I must be connected by Ethernet which at that moment it is. It's the strangest thing to me. Both players are setup the same except one is a Mk2 the other a Mk2a.

Can you send me the contents of /proc/version on both of your Empegs (the mk2 and the mk2a)?

Thanks

Re: jEmplode 42 - 20/10/2002 10:13

Whoops ... I pulled out the "human readable size" code ("32.5GB" vs "10MB", etc) and forgot the line that ran the number through a NumberFormatter... That will be back in the next version...
