Is there a feature that allow you to play more tracks by the currently playing artist? That would be nice.

Yes, there is. Press the "2" button on the remote control. The more times you press it, the more songs it will find and queue up.
Note: It is only useful if you're doing a shuffle of a very large playlist and there are more songs by that artist located in the latter part of the playlist. More details on this feature can be found in the FAQ, right here.

This just goes to prove I have a lot of things to still discover about the empeg. But, I don't want to be fiddling with a remote while I drive. So, until I get a good steering wheel remote (soon...), I probably won't learn these as quickly.
