Your dad must have been a very resourceful man. Asteroids was a vector display, the bar television was a raster display. I've got no idea how someone would go about doing this, assuming he was really using the real asteroids machine (as opposed to, say, a home video game console).

Nowadays you'd just use MAME or something, but you said this was during the eighties. I'd be really interested in knowing the details of the project, sounds fascinating.
