Hijack v299 is now available.

New in this release:

(1) The "KnobSeek" virtual button/function now performs linear tuning when invoked in AM/FM Tuner mode, rather than cycling through presets as in previous releases.

The "KnobSeek" virtual button can be mapped to any IR code using the ir_translate functions. It is also available by default on the "PopUp0" menu, which can be bound to the "Knob Press" from the Hijack menu.

In MP3 mode, KnobSeek allows fast cycling forward/backward through a playlist using the knob, and now in Tuner mode the knob can act as a manual tuning dial for frequency/station selection.

Enjoy.

For those who missed it, Hijack v298 included detection of the "logging disabled" feature of the player software, so that "Restore DC/Car Visuals" can work by default for everyone, and also pegs a message into /proc/empeg_notify showing how to correct it.

Cheers

Wow, that's amazing you can do that with kernel level code. Too bad they don't let you play with the player Nice job.

For anyone else who can't get to the sourceforge site, a fairly timely mirror (usually within a day) is located here: www.empeg-hijack.com

I don't know if this is at all possible but here it goes. Lets say ir_translate is used to make a single press of the Knob.T=KnobSeek. Could one make a subsequent knob press at that point to open the door for 2 different commands to the knob turns? It'd be neat if say, KnobLeft could toggle between station presets A, B, and C while a KnobRight could toggle between AM and FM?

I prefer not using the remote as you may have guessed and so I got the idea from how the default knob press opens up the Volume and subsequent presses toggle beween Loudness, Balance, Beep Level, and back to Volume.

Funny thing about all this is that I don't even own a tuner yet but I plan to get one soon. fake_tuner=1 is cool.

Without thinking too hard about it, most everything you asked about can be done with current versions of Hijack, using PopUps (which can also be nested), the "shift" operator, and separate Left/Right definitions where wanted.

Cool, except I have not yet grasped how to use that modifier in config.ini as of yet. Perhaps you could give me a brief example? pretty please...

Well, I have managed to use the knob press to simply act as the shift button and map two sets of commands to each direction of the knob turns. How to get this to work a step beyond this has me stumped.
