Don't know if this is the same problem as that of dschuetz, but when tuning between stations, there regularly comes a point (about once every 5 retunes) that the stream becomes choppy and cannot recover, even if I hit stop then play. On the very next retune then the Rio freezes; no buttons work. This sometimes happens several times in a row.

In the Java window on the server, it says "Updating config file"

A power cycle of the Rio doesn't fix it: the message in the Java window repeats "Got connect from /10.0.0.5" every 5 seconds.

The only solution is to shut down and restart tRio. Even if the Rio is still on and frozen, a reboot of tRio server fixes the problem.

If this is a different problem from dschuetz's and there's anything worth trying then it'd be great if you could let me know

I'm on Win98 with ARM and although the processor is only a 166MHz, it's not working at full whack, even when stuck on "Updating Config File".

TIA

Hmmm, I'll write this up in the trio bug list (on the sourceforge site) and have a look at it when I get a chance.

Cheers

Also, in version 1.03 and 1.04 of ARM at least, you can simply select IP Configuration from the Tools menu and uncheck the Enable Autoconfiguration option to accomplish the same thing as the registry edit.

I'm trying to do the same thing, getting same unhappy result :-(
What is confusing is that Winamp & Real players will accept the Streamsicle stream as http://192.168.0.2:4711 but tRio doesn't seem to like it. Anyone any ideas?

In reply to:

Someone's just reported some skipping during flac playback. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've been running 0.1.3a2 (with JRec) for a couple of weeks now. It is a big improvement over ARM+default Rio client.

A couple of problems I've noticed though:

(1) I still get occasional skipping during MP3 playback over HPNA. This happens fairly infrequently, and is difficult to reproduce on demand. (BTW, All my JRec server stuff is currently running on windoze, and I use ARM to do DHCP and serve up the client's net-bootable file system.)

(2) I was messing around at the client (in jukebox mode), selecting a starting track for Juke mode, switching between Q&P and Juke modes, etc. I saw the regular layout (displayed during playback) get corrupted on the client display. Basically, some garbage pixels and partial bitmaps got left behind and not properly overwritten by new updates to the display. Hitting 'menu' and scrolling the highlight down across the entire display was required to blank a bunch of those partial images of bitmaps erroneously left behind. Then when I exited the menu back to play mode, the screen was refreshed properly. Once again, this is not easily reproduced.

(3) Also not easily reproducible: Sometimes the track names displayed on the client are incorrect, yet the "correct" track plays if you select the mislabelled item from the screen. Example: when selecting a starting point in Jukebox mode, I scrolled to Steve Miller Band -> Abracadabra, and expanded the Abracadabra album title to reveal its tracks. Instead, I saw what looked like a list of all tracks on the server (across all artists/albums) listed in alpabetical order, and starting somewhere in the 'S's. These tracks did not belong to the album Abracadabra. Yet when I selected the first listed track, the client began playing the first track from Abracadabra. So the right thing began to play, but the selection list was messed up. The playback display did show the correct track info. I've seen this sort of thing before (when selecting tracks in Q&P). This example, however, is the most recent and I recall it most clearly. I'm not sure I can precisely describe what occurred when I saw this sort of mis-display earlier in Q&P mode.

tRio+JRec is still far superior to the default Rio solution, IMHO. Hopefully bug reports like this will enable tRio to improve even further.

With Duff's help I have managed to track down what's going wrong with tRio and streamsickle. The fix with be included in version 0.1.4.

Cheers

Great News! One further question: Does anyone know if the displayserver hack (http://fvgestel.dyndns.org/receiver/dskernel/) works with tRio?

No, the display server hack doesn't work with tRio. But with 0.1.4 we'll be getting a snazzy new web front-end, which should more than make up for this.

Sorry, but I've got no plans to support earlier versions of JReceiver. Folks generally seem happy with 0.2.5 and so I see no need for backwards compatability.

My upgrade to 0.2.5 went smoothly once I'd upgraded jetty.

Just wanted to thank you for tRio, I found this site before I bought 4 rio's for my new house, all the features I wanted in one package, thanks and keep up the good work.

It think I've tracked the "station retune" bug down now. And so version 0.1.4 draws steadily nearer.

Cheers
