Does anyone else see compressed chunked/binary data when viewing pages on the board every now and then?

Sort of like this...

Quote:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Sat, 22 May 2010 04:23:58 GMT Server: Apache/1.3.34 (Debian) mod_choke/0.06 PHP/4.4.4-8+etch4 mod_ssl/2.8.25 OpenSSL/0.9.8c DAV/1.0.3 X-Powered-By: PHP/4.4.4-8+etch4 Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT Cache-Control: private Pragma: no-cache Content-Encoding: gzip Vary: Accept-Encoding Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 2061 ]ys8&

Except instead of number, I see black diamond and question marks. The board has encoded the characters after posting. It's weird that it will preview with the correct characters, but not post with them.

Reloading the page will almost always bring the page up properly. Just curious because I've been seeing this every now and then for at least a few months.

I've never had that problem when viewing in Firefox on Windows. I have a vague recollection of occasionally seeing that black diamond question mark thing on Safari on Mac a few times.

Nope. Never. You tried another machine or internet connection?

Yep. It's some weird bug with GimmerBlocker and sites that use gzip compression. I see it mostly here, but have had it happen a few other places. Took me a while to narrow it down, but I've seen it at home on 2 machines, and at work, in multiple browsers.

Thanks guys. Tom nailed it. I thought this had been around longer than my install of GlimmerBlocker, but it makes sense and the timeline seems to fit.

Tom, have you ever reported it to the developer and/or do you know if they already know about it?

My apologies, I can't begin to comment on a Mac issue, but I'm a bit confused. GlimmerBlocker's page seems to tell me that it's a Safari tool. But you said it happens on multiple browsers.

Either way I'm assuming this is a Mac-only issue?

GlimmerBlocker is local filtering and rule system that works as a web proxy - it works with any browser. Some of its features I believe are Safari only though.
