You could use three laser ring gyros and do away with the cameras. You can get them fairly small (less than 2" diameter), but I would be scared to think of the price.

There's a lot of connotation there...

I thought the same thing when he said it. :-)

Seems like a lot of people are missing the connotations that come with that name:

There is some footage I shot from the copter at the start of this video...

https://vimeo.com/71447303

I wasn't doing this professionally, so I was ok to fly the copter over the crowd, as long as it was less than 1,000 in size.

Cheers

Laser gyros (ring or fiber) are fun things to dork with. I am kind of surprised that somebody would go through the trouble with all those cameras and limit themselves to being in a special room rather than using them.

Spectacular.

Of course, it makes me wonder just how close you could get the drone to the fireworks display itself... smile

I'm sure he could get down to negative distances, but then the fireworks morph into AAA... grin

I was close enough for the first t flying in the dark smile

I guess that was around 350-400ft and maybe 600ft out from the main firing site.

Wow! Both videos are incredibly steady. Meaning: *I* did not think that possible, actually.
