This has nothing to do with anyone on this board unless Bruno happens to be a member of this site but I made this animation and I like even if I only own the engine out of a Teg.

Your attachment didn't work.
If I'm a member of which board? Guess I'll have to see the attachment.
By the way, did you ever make a ppost detailing how you wrote-off your TypeR? If so, point me to the thread...

Tony, I was thinking about this and I have a question for you:
Was the boot-logo (non-animated) display time determined by "(Custom Non-Animated Boot Logo display time) = (Total Boot Time) - (Animated Boot Logo Time)"?
I remember a while back some people wishing to see their custom non-animated boot logos display longer. Could a simple work around be to have a real short animated logo? Then someone could make a generic "Powered by....." or "Brought to you by..." animated logo followed by "Ford Motor Company" "Honda" etc or "Insert favorite logo here"...?
Or am I misunderstanding this?

Didn't I read that you scrapped your Integra recently? Isn't that why you were getting into that Civic with an Integra motor?

Yeah like I said I totalled her although it was a ITR chassis I had blown the motor a couple years ago and didnt have the money to replace it with a real B18C5 so I replaced it with a B18B and the turbo I blew the ITR with. So yeah but I like this site so much that I just kinda stayed yeah the VX civic hatch is slow and ugly right now but the shop just got my B18C1 engine in and they are prepping it for the swap, cant wait.

The boot animation plays, for as long as it wants to play.
Next, the custom logo, if any, is put on the display, where it remains until overwritten by player software starting up.
If the animation takes too long -- meaning that the player software is starting up by the time the animation finishes -- then the custom logo will just appear to blink on and then off again.

Mark,
cool, that is what I though. So... if the boot-up animation was really short, the static boot logo would stay up longer correct? There were a few wishes a while back to have the static logo stay up longer. I assume fewer people will want this now that they can make their own animations.. but I thought we could have an animated "powered by" followed by a static car company logo or something (or linux etc.)

Again, the simplest way to do what you want, is to just tuck the custom logo into the tail end of the animation, and then have it repeat for a few frames.

Thanks for the info Mark! I was just wondering about why my boot logo was only flashing for a second. Looks like I'll have to do some modifications to the boot logo to make it shorter.

I feel like a dork asking, but what are the procedures for uploading the animation using logo editor or Jemplode and do you upload the .raw file or the gif. Definitely a newbie, please be gentle.

We could REALLY use a kind soul to offer a few Jemplode FAQ entries... even installing the program isn't 100% straight forward from the web-site. I'd do it, but I don't even have Jemplode installed yet.

In one of these 5000 message threads, there is a simple couple steps to upload an animation w/ jEmplode that I wrote (I think for Laura, maybe??). I'll try to track it down and put it into the FAQ section on jempeg.org.

Didn't write it for me but I answered that I'm glad you did because I was able to do it with the nice simple instructions. I can find it if you can't.

You could be the first to implement random animations:
Just write a userland program to randomly choose among animation files in a subdirectory (of your choosing) on the player's hard drive, and then write that animation to flash using aniwrite (source/binary available on the Hijack site).
Then just have the initscripts run your random chooser at boot time, to set up the random animation for NEXT TIME.
Cheers

I don't think they're there yet, but if you can see them here, you can put them on your Empeg. Just download the .gif or .raw, open it in the latest version of Jemplode, and upload away.

What is everyone using to create the boot animations, you can't all be doing this frame by frame.. so far what is the best bet to use? i tried doing flash to export gif but that looks TERRIBLE. any thoughts?

Except the glint is going the wrong way. It should go from right to left on his right lens to match the direction in which he turns around...
Just geekin' out...

you can't all be doing this frame by frame..
Why not? I did. Paint Shop Pro was all I used. That was for all three animations I've done: The original empeg and Rio animations, and the original Risky Tux (without the underwear).
It's not that hard. It's only a couple dozen frames. Learning how to use the selection and move/cut/paste features of your image editor is the trick.
