Ordered the sony steering wheel stalk today from crutchfield. Anything I should know about it before I go and plug it in the tuner tomorrow?

Got 1.0.3 up, tuner is working great, anything else I need?

What else do you need?

Why 2.0 of course. Sony Stalk support is only available in 2.0
if I recall Hugos comments correctly.

is this correct? if that's the case that could be the reason why my peugeot to stalk-converter doesn't work...

No, guys, you only need 1.03 for the stalk to work. Support for the stalk will be improved in 2.0, but you should get at least SOME response out of 1.03.

Tee, your Peugot converter might be at fault, or it might just be a question of the software needing to interpret the values it's sending to the tuner. No way to be sure, but... if you have a volt meter, see if pressing buttons on your Peugot stalk causes different amounts of resistance on the mini-jack coming out of the converter. I think that if the converter is working properly, you should see the amount of resistance changing as you press buttons. Not certain about this, though...

There was another thread (anyone have a link?) where someone with an actual Sony stalk was having trouble getting the tuner module to recognize every button. Hugo gave him a program to read the values from the tuner module, he ran it, and this gave Hugo more data with which to fashion the value ranges for the next software release.

I'll try the volt-meter-measure.. i'll post my results if i get some.. i think in beginning of the next week..
thanks for your reply!

Here is the relevant thread on Sony stalk and testing it. It is also nicely summarized on Smu's website (under empeg->tweaking).

Tony, a FAQ entry?

Tony, a FAQ entry?

As a rule of thumb, if the next software release will fix a bug, I don't bother to create a FAQ entry for it. There are exceptions, of course, but in this case (if I understand correctly), 2.0 will take care of the stalk problems and it's going to be out RSN.

Hot Damn!!!

The stalk works perfectly. I spent the last hour installing it, and man does it kick butt.

There doesn't appear to be any buttons that are not implemented. I can't think of anything else that I would want on it anyway ... it's got (from memory):

scan through song
seek to other songs
shuffle off/on
volume up/dn
menu ok
menu cancel
power off
mute
source (mp3/aux/FM/AM)
and it also has cycling for the visuals!!!

you guys kick ass.
