We have a part time dispatcher at Cambridge who is working hard to clear the backlog. Because the EOL announcement leaked at the same time as we were shipping free tuners, post room activity has been much higher than usual.

dwallach: Don't forget to hook up the power antenna lead on your coupe.

For everyone else: The Z3 Coupe/M Coupe, like a lot of German cars these days, has an amplified antenna that's powered by the "Power Antenna" lead in the harness. When I first installed the tuner, I got horrible reception because I thought "Hey, the antenna's fixed, I don't need that blue wire."

Installation: rip out the little glove compartment under the empeg, plug the tuner in, power-cycle the empeg, check: tuner works, stuff everything in there, stuff the little glove compartment back in...

Aww well, no AM reception.. who cares, I do not (no interesting stations on AM in germany).

As per usual, do you have a VW/Audi with a bee-sting type antenna? You will not get any AM reception unless you feed power up the antenna cable - there are adaptors available that do this. Attach the power lead of the adaptor to the blue antenna control wire of the tuner harness.

got mine today , along with an empeg remote and a faceplate kit. Did take 12 days to get here (Germany) from the UK though!!! Works fine. Reception is definitely a little better than with the MK1, and it seems to react a lot quicker too.

that depends on the antenna...
I just checked with my VW dealer. the roof antennas are fed through the antenna cable, so you need this special adapter; the VW sharan has a window antenna which is supposed to have a power cable somewhere.

I guess I have to dig for that; I can live without AM but FM reception (crystal clear as it is) COULD be better, and as there is a antanna amp somewhere which should be powered, and not getting all bars from a VERY local station (in fact, 5 kilometers direct line of sight from my house to the antenna) is nor right I'd guess...

...just wondering what the status is on these..


I got mine on Monday and had to wait until today to fit it. No problem with it at all. Tried it out and it picks up loads of stations. I found 12 in all in Cardiff, South Wales with some from over in Bristol and Somerset. I even got a clock appearing in the bottom right corner. Is this part of the RDS thing or not?
Tuner works like a charm but I couldn't quite follow the instuctions correctly for storing presets and change presets later. Figured it out though easily enough though.
