Is there any benefit to installing the USB driver that comes with the empeg software or should i just stick with the one that comes with my OS ?

The one that comes with the OS claims to be newer than the one in v2.0b3 too.

You shouldn't be able to use emplode over USB if you don't install the drivers that came with the empeg software. According to Hugo, they're using a custom USB class, so it needs its own driver, that is not built into Windows.

Yes, I'd be most surprised if it worked without our driver on windows. I know linux comes with one for the empeg though.

Yeah, i'm on linux, i was surprised to see on my fresh install of linux that as soon as i plugged the empeg in it was recognised and the driver loaded without me having to do anything..

The driver that comes with emptool calls itself v0.11, but the driver that Mandrake Linux 8.1 loads calls itself v1.2

I'm having a few problems, so i was just wondering if maybe the driver that comes with mandrake was a problem, seen as it's version number doesn't agree with the offical empeg driver.

I'll have to defer this to some other people in the office who use linux to sync - I don't, personally. I know Peter does, but he's on holiday for a couple of weeks...

Elaborate on my problems?

I keep getting connection timeouts during database rebuilds when doing a sync from emptool.

I can delete stuff, but renaming a playlist doesn't stick.

Ooops, sorry; I thought you meant that you were having troubles getting the USB driver to load. [doh]Nevermind

I haven't seen any timeouts during database rebuilds though.

renaming a playlist doesn't stick

I seem to recall a syntax like:

mv "Some Name" "Other Name"

though, I could be wrong about that.

Is something like this similar to what you are seeing?

Yup. That's what i get now. And the rename still doesn't work.

I was gettings lots of timeout errors during the database rebuild, but a sync once with emplode seems to have fixed those.

Hmm, renaming from emplode via VMWare works... I guess it's an emptool problem.

Does anyone have emptool working with the 2.0 b3 release?
