Now hollow fires burn out to black,
And lights are guttering low;
Square your shoulders, lift your pack,
And leave your friends and go,

Oh never fear man, nought's to dread,
Look not to left nor right:
In all the endless road you tread
There's nothing but the night.

Greetings.

That sounds rather grim. I know that you have been going through difficult times. Again, if there is anything I, or anyone else here, can do to help, let us know...

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high unsurpassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

It seemed an appropriate response. We're with you, Rob.

If there's anything I can do, just ask. Of course, I too am on a different continent, meaning that I can offer little more than supportive words. But I hope even that can help.

For those worried about Rob, I have talked to him recently and he's OKish, although he's having bad spots. I'm sure that knowing so many people here wish him well is helping him, so don't stop.

Thanks for the update. I know that things are very difficult for him now, and I am just glad to see he is doing okay. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Sorry I've not posted earlier but if you're reading this Rob I'd like you to know that as a result of your hard work you made the Amersfoort meet the highlight of the summer for me. You bent over backwards to make sure that Steve and I managed to get there and back and both of us are extremely grateful.

Hold in there mate....

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

J.R.R.Tolkien

From the lonely shieling of
the misty island
Mountains divide us and a
waste of seas
Yet still the blood is strong
The Heart is Highland
and we in dreams behold
The Hebrides......

you made the Amersfoort meet the highlight of the summer for me.

I have been pretty busy and haven't been paying consistent attention to the BBS, but a) I'm glad to hear that Patrick has been in touch and b) I really have to echo Andy's sentiment. It was a weird summer in some ways, but Amersfoort was definitely the highlight and, Rob, I *really* thank you for that. I'm really hoping for good things for you and family.
