Does anybody know if there's in the marked an internal SACD player for PC? Ideally, a BD/DVD player which plays also SACD would be great. I could not find any.

I've done a bit of searching for it, it seems not to exist. There's lots of reasons why that I've found.

To find out why, just search for "rip SACD" and you'll get lots of threads in lots of places all coming to the same conclusion... There's no way to read the unencrypted digital audio from an SACD disc with a computer*. No hardware, no software.

Your easiest bet is to do an analog capture of each channel using a good player and a good capture card. Then save the channels to an AC3 file on you computer.

The situation is unlikely to ever change in the future because the SACD format never achieved any significant market share.

*I did find one resource for possibly capturing an unencrypted digital signal using a custom board for a Denon player:

Or, just possibly, "The SACD format never achieved any significant market share because that situation was unlikely to ever change in the future"..? smile

Neat implementation.

Sighing about audiophile reviews however. "ease/air/space/dynamics" on the review is just >< because the clock module the person is talking about seems to be a regular can type one but with new silkscreen...

My intent was actually to simply play SACDs in my Media Center (which does not exist yet). I guess I may simply buy a stand alone SACD player and connect it to the amplifier. That's a pity.

Thanks for helping out with this!

The early PS3 machines can play SACD apparently. Not the newer ones though. wink

SACD and DVD-Audio are nigh dead. Blu-ray audio, however, may well take off for audiophiles. You can potentially get lots of channels, lots of bandwidth, no compression, and maybe even some video tossed in for good measure.

Yes, I knew about the PS3! Too bad... smile .

Anyway, yes, SACD is a dead format. I just happen to own a couple of them which I could never listen to, and once in a while some new release seems to hit the market. I was just hoping that, now that I am ivnesting some Euros in a new audio/video system, I could actually spend less than $ 100 and finally be SACD compatible... I don't know if it makes sense to spend more than that...

I know this does not help for a direct computer based solution, but it may help for ripping then playing from a computer:
