Yes, but only if both devices also have a subnet (netmask) setting to match.

For example, if you had any devices on the LAN which you had configured with fixed IP settings instead of dynamic, then those likely have the older, more restrictive subnet/netmask setting, and they won't talk to the wider network until you've gone in and changed them to the new settings.
